The dynamism of the season

European customers, customers from neighbouring countries and Monegasque customers

Following the health crisis that has affected the whole world, a clear drop in the number of foreign tourists has naturally made itself felt in France, particularly due to the absence of tourists from faraway countries such as the Americans, Asians, Russians or Middle Eastern countries.

Faced with this regression, certain local European markets such as the Belgians, Swiss and Dutch made a comeback at the beginning of July. The same was true for Monegasque customers, whose presence was widely felt this season. This is not the case for the Italians, Spaniards, British or Germans, who have a significantly lower attendance rate compared to the previous year. These results are probably linked to the COVID-19 epidemic and the impact caused on each of them.

Focus on the French clientele, which is largely present this season

Although France has experienced economic, social and health difficulties this year, the French people have not resigned themselves to this situation. Indeed, the majority of them did not give up their holidays and chose to adapt their destination to the situation: France, and more particularly the South of the country. Thus, for the summer season of 2020, 22% of the nights were booked in the Provence-Alpes-Côte-d'Azur region, the highest percentage this year. It is, therefore, the Mediterranean coast that has attracted the most French tourists with 6,6 % of the nights reserved in France for the Var, 6,3 % for the Alpes-Maritimes, then 4,5 % for the Bouches-du-Rhône.

The South of France is also in the lead in terms of the average basket of French people per reservation: 1 676 € for Corsica followed by 1 637 € for Provence-Alpes-Côte-d'Azur. This, compared with an average expenditure for the whole country of 1,050 € per booking.

Investment in real estate

Real estate is the investment of choice

Although slowed down by the economic and health crisis suffered in 2020, the property sector has not lost the confidence of the French, nor even that of foreigners. Indeed, this particular period is not without consequences. But despite the postponement of many French people's projects, a real revival of interest in stock market investments in stone has been observed and real estate remains the best investment. Today, the majority of French people continue to believe that we are in the middle of a favorable period for buying a home and that it is more interesting to invest in real estate than in any other financial investment.
